Frequently Asked Questions - if2kv2

If2k Version 2

How does the phrase filter work.

Analytical Phrase Filter

This example is for pornography.

Here is the concept we have evolved. This is what works the best at
this time for pornography.

Something has to do something to something.

a b c

________ _______ ________

That is the essence of the phrase filter.

So example.

(blond, redhead, dog, gay man, etc, etc) [sucks,*****, *****, etc, etc,
etc,] a big {cock,****,****,etc etc etc}

Craft the permutations and combinations of these elements and you
have a porn "analytical phrase filter". And if a page has these
elements you are very likely correct about the nature of the page.

This concept seems to work the best.

How can I have an external data base for if-2k

Using Remote URL Databases

If you want the filter to load the custom lists from an external website, you must manually create 3 text files:

* 01badurl.txt - Your list of bad urls
* 01goodurl.txt - Your list of good urls
* 01badphr.txt - Your list of bad phrases

Upload these files to a directory in your intranet or internet website, and enter in the full URL of this directory in the "Remote Database URL" field in the "Remote Settings" window and specify a non-zero number of minutes for the filter to reload them in the "Update Rate In Minutes" field.

You can do two things currently:

  • Enter in a list of sites in notepad, save the file onto the computer, and tell the filter to use that as your allowed web site list.
  • Post the list of sites onto another web server and tell the filter to get the list of sites from that web server.

Option 2 is preferable if you are running the filter on the clients computer.
